is important in the big scheme of things as every little $ helps.  The Virginia Folk Music Association belongs to every Virginian.  We encourage each of you to join.  The VFMA has taken a giant leap forward with an aggressive price change, we are hopeful that our audience will double this year.

  MOVING RIGHT ALONG —

Virginia Folk Music Association/Brandermill Church
Virginia Food Bank - FOOD DRIVE

As many of you know, since 2001, the VFMA has held a monthly Jam, currently held at the Brandermill Church in Chesterfield County on the third Tuesday.  At Christmas we try to make
it a little more special and in December, 2008, the Board voted to combine the regular festivities
with a much needed food drive to benefit the Virginia Food Bank.  The VFMA has promoted various benefits to help friends in need so this seemed to fit right into the agenda.  It was more than a success.  With joined efforts of many, nearly 1,000 pounds of food was collected and delivered to the Virginia Food Bank.  Plans are in progress for the 2nd Food Drive and Christmas Concert  on December 15, 2009.  The year 2008 brought another milestone for the Association, the Annual Food Bank Drive.

And Again—another accomplishment in 2009
A $5/Day Quality Bluegrass Festival

That’s right!  We heard from so, so many of our friends and associates how they were cutting back because of financial constraints.  Well, in 2009, the VFMA Board voted to respond to their requests.   The VFMA took another giant step forward and produced a quality, Bluegrass Festival for just  $5 a day.  It was successful in many ways.  Folks who never came before, came and discovered Bluegrass Music.

It was a win/win situation for all!  From the bands performing to the numerous vendors and sponsors, to seasoned fans, to new fans created, to Festival Promoters, to Chesterfield County and for the Virginia Folk Music Association whose mission is:   To preserve and promote Virginia’s Heritage Music; Country, Bluegrass, Gospel and Folk.  Virginians and music lovers from all over, joined in the effort.   MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

As you can see the VFMA is ever moving forward while maintaining the traditional structure
on which it was founded nearly 62 years ago.  The Board of Directors is made up of loyal individuals who believe in the original goal and who are dedicated to the task by giving of their time and efforts.  They are indeed a noble and loyal group.
